Catching equipment

Llamas and alpacas depend on their ability to move away from danger for survival. So using the corner-grab-hold approach to catch your animal will teach them to run from you whenever they can, they fear being restrained more that whatever it is you want to do with them. Using a catch rope and wand together with giving an escape route in the catch pen, gives your camelid the opportunity to overcome his flight response a stand still on his own. You are then able to progressively desensitise him to your approach and touch without him ever feeling trapped. Highly recommended for  animals that are fearful, spit, kick or kush when you try to catch them.
